How to clone or duplicate a website using Softaculous Print

Overview

Softaculous can clone your website into another directory or subdomain — useful for staging, redesigns, or testing plugins.

Step 1 — Open Softaculous

1. Go to DirectAdmin → Softaculous
2. Click Installations

Step 2 — Choose the Website

Find the website you want to clone and click the Clone icon.

Step 3 — Select Destination

• Directory: /staging (recommended for test sites)
• Subdomain: staging.yourdomain.com (if created)

Step 4 — Database Options

Softaculous automatically generates a new database.

Step 5 — Clone

Click Clone Installation. Your duplicate site will be ready in a few seconds.

Final Notes

• Use the cloned site for safe testing
• Your original website remains untouched
• Cloning also works for Joomla, Drupal, and other apps
