Overview
When you register a new domain, you receive an email requesting that you verify your contact email address. This is required by ICANN — the global authority for domain names. If you do not verify it, your domain can be suspended.
What needs to be verified?
You must verify the Registrant Email used during registration.
Why is verification required
- ICANN requires all gTLD domains (.com, .net, .org, etc.) to use a valid email address associated with the domain.
- It helps prevent fraud, fake registrations, and unauthorized use of domains.
- It ensures you can receive important messages about your domain.
What happens if you don’t verify?
- Your domain may be temporarily suspended.
- Your website and email may stop working.
- You will see a “Domain Suspended” page instead of your website.
How to verify your email
- Open your inbox.
- Look for a message titled “Please verify your email address”.
- Click the verification link inside the email.
If you didn’t receive the verification email
- Check your Spam/Junk folder.
- Confirm your email is spelled correctly in the domain contact details.
- Click Resend Verification Email from your domain management page.
Which domains require ICANN verification?
All gTLDs, for example:
- .com
- .net
- .org
- .info
- .online
- .store
