Overview
Large or unused files can quickly fill your hosting storage. DirectAdmin includes tools to help you clean your account and optimize disk usage.
Step 1 – Check disk usage
Go to DirectAdmin → System Info & Files → Disk Usage
This shows how much space is used by:
- public_html
- email accounts
- backups
- logs
- temporary files
Step 2 – Remove unused backups
Many clients forget ZIP backups in:
/backups
or
/domains/yourdomain.com/public_html/
Delete any old ZIP/backup files you no longer need.
Step 3 – Clear email storage
If you host email on DirectAdmin, mailbox storage can grow fast.
- Open E-mail Accounts
- Check the Usage column
- Delete old emails in Roundcube (especially Sent & Trash)
Step 4 – Clean logs
Delete old logs from:
/domains/yourdomain.com/logs/
Step 5 – Delete unused WordPress themes & plugins
Inside WordPress → Appearance → Themes
Keep only one active and one fallback theme.
Step 6 – Use a disk usage analyzer
You can install plugins like:
- WordPress – “Disk Usage Sunburst”
- DirectAdmin – use the built-in analyzer
Important
- Do not delete system folders
- Do not delete .htaccess or index.php files
