How to migrate your old mailbox to DirectAdmin Print

  • 0

Overview

You can easily transfer all emails from another provider (such as Gmail, cPanel, or an old hosting account) to your new DirectAdmin mailbox using IMAP migration tools.

Option 1 — Use an online IMAP migration tool (recommended)

Use:

https://imapsync.lamiral.info/X/

You will need:

  • Old email IMAP login
  • New DirectAdmin IMAP login

New mailbox settings:

IMAP Host: mail.yourdomain.com
IMAP Port: 993
Encryption: SSL
Username: full email address
Password: your mailbox password

Option 2 — Migrate using an email client (manual)

This method works with Outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple Mail.

  1. Add your old mailbox as IMAP
  2. Add your new DirectAdmin mailbox as IMAP
  3. Select all emails → drag & drop into new mailbox folders

Option 3 — Export & Import (Roundcube)

  1. Export folders as .eml files from old mail
  2. Log in to Roundcube
  3. Go to Folder → Import
  4. Upload files

Important notes

  • Migrating large mailboxes (5 GB or more) can take several hours.
  • Ensure your DirectAdmin mailbox has sufficient quota.
  • Do not delete your old mailbox until all your emails have been transferred.
